Daily planner, daily schedule and daily affirmation
If you’re anything like me, you have a gazillion things to keep track of at any given time, from the serious (hair appt. at 6) to the banal (order phone case). While we have a family calendar on the fridge tracking dentist appts., school goings on and other exciting things, I still have a To-Do list but outside of the, I need something outside of that to track my goals and remind myself I’m awesome.
To Do List
Ever the Virgo, I have to have a running list of To Do’s in order to feel like a normal human. More importantly, a way to check them off to indicated that I have my shit together AT ALL TIMES (cough cough) and to make myself feel as if I (somewhat) actually do. One thing I’ve found helpful is capturing them throughout the week, but setting aside an “Admin Day” so I can stay focused on tackling more fulfilling/rewarding work the rest of the week.
Daily Accomplishments
I can’t lay claim to this idea, it was a suggestion from my therapist. I like to capture my goals at the beginning of the week. Then I write down my day’s accomplishment, what I’m most proud of, even if it is tackling the never-ending “Called the people I needed so my kids’ teeth don’t rot off and so our bathroom light is fixed”. Do I accomplish something every day? Hell no, there are certainly days where I stay up too late watching shitty Netflix (which I don’t consider an accomplishment) but it’s still important to recognize something on the daily. Enter the affirmation.
Positive Affirmation
I know this is so woo woo it’s not even funny, but honestly - it helps keep me going. I am a visual person, so I capture this on a wall calendar beside my desk so I can remind myself that I am, indeed, pretty awesome. I can Like I said: we all have shitty days, but instead of writing “You fell asleep on the couch without taking your make-up off”, be kind to yourself! Give yourself words of encouragement to remind you that you’re awesome and to keep you going. After all, tomorrow is another day.
